Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is sahih.
Reference / Source: Sa'id bin Mansur in the Tafsir section of his "Sunan" (589), Ibn Abi Shaybah in his "Musannaf" (11/ 415), and Sa'dan bin Nasr in his "Juz'" (23) (and by way of him al-Bayhaqi, 6/ 225), all three from Sufyan bin Uyaynah, recorded it with this chain like the author's narration. Likewise al-Tabari recorded it in his "Tafsir" (4/ 286) from Sufyan bin Waki', Ibn al-Mundhir in his "Tafsir" (1442) by way of Muhammad bin al-Sabbah, and al-Tahawi in "Mushkil al-Athar" (13/ 227) from Isa bin Ibrahim al-Ghafiqi, from Sufyan bin Uyaynah, with the same chain.
Reference / Source: Abd al-Razzaq recorded it (19188) from Ibn Uyaynah, with the same chain -
Technical note / Defect ('illah): and at its end he added: "I think he said: 'nor a parent.'"
Reference / Source: Ibn Abi Hatim recorded it in his "Tafsir" (3/ 887) from Muhammad bin Abd Allah bin Yazid al-Muqri', from Ibn Uyaynah, with the same chain -
Technical note / Defect ('illah): and he added: "nor a parent", without expressing doubt.
Grading: These two narrations are shadh,
Technical note / Defect ('illah): and what is preserved (mahfuz) from Sufyan is without his words "nor a parent". Ibn Jurayj corroborated him in this way, from Ibn Tawus, from his father, as will come at no. (8046).
Reference / Source: As for what al-Sha'bi narrated, with Abd al-Razzaq (19191), al-Darimi (3015) and al-Tahawi (13/ 230), and Sumayt bin Umayr with al-Bayhaqi (6/ 224), both from Umar (may Allah be pleased with him): "Kalalah is one who has neither child nor parent";
Grading: it is munqati', for neither of them met Umar (may Allah be pleased with him).
Note / Clarification: Moreover, consensus (ijma') has been established among the imams of the religion that kalalah is one who has neither child nor parent.
