It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: By Allah, besides whom there is no god! There is no soul on the face of the earth except that death is better for it (than life). For if he is a believer, Allah Almighty says: "But those who fear their Lord will have gardens beneath which rivers flow" [Surah Al Imran: 198]; and if he is a wrongdoer, Allah Almighty says: "We only grant them respite so that they may increase in sin" [Surah Al Imran: 178].
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), and they did not record it.
