It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Miqdad bin al-Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Indeed the heart of the son of Adam turns over (in its changes) even more rapidly than a cooking pot that is fully boiling."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Bukhari, and the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Grading: This hadith is sahih, and this chain is "hasan" for purposes of corroboration and supporting reports, on account of Abd Allah bin Salih al-Misri, the scribe of al-Layth.
Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi recorded it in "al-Qada' wa al-Qadar" (385) from Abu Abd Allah al-Hakim, with this same chain.
Reference / Source: Al-Bazzar recorded it (2112), al-Khara'iti in "I'tilal al-Qulub" (373), al-Tabarani in "al-Kabir" 20/(598) and "Musnad al-Shamiyyin" (2021), Ibn Battah in "al-Ibanah al-Kubra" 2/586-587, and Abu Nu'aym in "al-Hilyah" 1/175, via several routes from Abd Allah bin Salih, with the same chain. Al-Bazzar graded its chain hasan.
Reference / Source: Ibn Battah recorded it in 2/586 with a sahih chain from al-Layth bin Sa'd, from Mu'awiyah bin Salih, from Abd al-Rahman bin Jubayr bin Nufayr, from al-Miqdad bin al-Aswad.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Thus Jubayr, the father of Abd al-Rahman, has dropped from the chain; our strong assumption is that the omission arose from the copyists, not in the narration itself, and Allah the Exalted knows best.
Reference / Source: Ibn Abi 'Asim recorded it in "al-Sunnah" (226), and al-Quda'i in "Musnad al-Shihab" (1332), via Abu Salamah Sulayman bin Sulaym, from Abd al-Rahman bin Jubayr, from his father, with the same chain.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In the chain to him is Baqiyyah bin al-Walid, about whom there is some criticism (maqal), but he is corroborated in what preceded.
Reference / Source: Baqiyyah also narrated it from al-Faraj bin Fadalah, from Sulayman bin Sulaym, from Yahya bin Jabir, from al-Miqdad bin al-Aswad. Al-Mahamili recorded it in his "Amali" (the transmission of Ibn Mahdi al-Farisi) (322), and al-Khatib in "Tarikh Baghdad" 4/216.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Hashim bin al-Qasim differed from him, in Ahmad 39/(23816), narrating it from al-Faraj bin Fadalah with Yahya bin Jabir dropped from its chain, so it is munqati' or mu'dal; and al-Faraj is weak.
