It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet of Allah Uzayr (peace be upon him) left his town as a young man. He passed by a town that had collapsed upon its roofs. He said: How will Allah bring this to life after its death? So Allah kept him in the state of death for a hundred years, then raised him up. The first things to be created were his eyes, and he began to watch his bones being joined to one another. Then they were clothed with flesh and the soul was breathed into him. He was asked: How long did you remain? He said: A day or part of a day. It was said: Rather, you remained a hundred years. Then he came to his town and found there a neighbour of his, a cobbler, whom he had left as a young man, and who had now become old.
