أخبرنا عبد الرحمن بن حَمْدان الجَلَّاب، حدثنا هلال بن العلاء الرَّقِّي، حدثنا عبد الله بن جعفر، حدثنا عُبيد الله بن عمرو، عن زيد بن أبي أُنيسة، عن أبي إسحاق، عن زائدة بن عُمير قال: سألت ابنَ عبَّاس عن العَزْل، فقال: إنكم قد أكثرتُم، فإن كان قال فيه رسولُ الله ﷺ شيئًا، فهو كما قال، وإن لم يكن قال فيه شيئًا، فأنا أقول: ﴿نِسَاؤُكُمْ حَرْثٌ لَكُمْ فَأْتُوا حَرْثَكُمْ أَنَّى شِئْتُمْ﴾ [البقرة:223]، فإن شئتم فاعزِلُوا، وإن شئتم فلا تَفعَلوا (3).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Za'idah bin Umayr asked him about 'azl (withdrawing and discharging semen outside the womb). He said: You people have talked a great deal about this matter. If the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave any ruling about it, then it is as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said; and if he (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent about it, then I say: "Your women are a tilth for you, so come to your tilth however you wish" [Surah al-Baqarah: 223]. So if you wish, practise 'azl, and if you wish, do not.
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, and the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

وأخرجه الطبراني في "الأوسط" (1171) عن أحمد بن عبد الرحمن بن عِقال، عن عبد الله بن جعفر، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Al-Tabarani recorded it in "al-Awsat" (1171) from Ahmad bin Abd al-Rahman bin 'Iqal, from Abd Allah bin Ja'far, with this same chain.
وأخرجه بنحوه ابن أبي شيبة 4/ 217 و 229، والطحاوي في "معاني الآثار" 41/ 3 من طريقين عن أبي إسحاق، به.
