حدثنا أبو العبَّاس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا محمد بن إسحاق الصَّغَاني، حدثنا يَعلَى بن عُبيد، حدثنا محمد بن إسحاق، عن نافع، عن ابن عمر قال: الرَّفَث: الجِماع، والفُسوق: ما أُصِيبَ من معاصي الله من صيدٍ وغيره، والجِدَال: السِّباب والمنازَعة (1). هذا حديث صحيح على شرط مسلم، ولم يُخرجاه. It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: "Rafath" means intercourse, "fusuq" means acts of disobedience to Allah, such as hunting (in the state of ihram) and the like, and "jidal" means abuse and quarrelling.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Grading: This report is sahih, and this chain is 'hasan' because of Muhammad bin Ishaq, who is narrating from Nafi'; and he (Muhammad bin Ishaq) is Ibn Yasar, the author of the Sirah. وأخرجه البيهقي 5/ 67 عن أبي عبد الله الحاكم، بهذا الإسناد. Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi recorded it in 5/ 67 from Abu Abd Allah al-Hakim with this same chain. وأخرجه الطبري في "تفسيره" 2/ 266 و 269 من طريق ابن المبارك، عن ابن إسحاق، به. Reference / Source: Al-Tabari recorded it in his "Tafsir" 2/ 266 and 269 via the route of Ibn al-Mubarak, from Ibn Ishaq, with this same chain. وأخرجه سعيد بن منصور في التفسير من "سننه" (344) من طريق موسى بن عقبة، والطبري 2/ 263 و 269، وابن أبي حاتم في "تفسيره" 11/ 346 - 348 من طريق يونس بن يزيد، كلاهما عن نافع، به.
