أخبرني عبد الرحمن بن الحسن القاضي، حدثنا إبراهيم بن الحسين، حدثنا آدم بن أبي إياس، حدثنا شُعْبة، عن عَمرو بن مُرَّة، عن عبد الله بن سَلِمة: سُئِلَ [عليٌّ] (4) عن قول الله ﷿: ﴿وَأَتِمُّوا الْحَجَّ وَالْعُمْرَةَ لِلَّهِ﴾ [البقرة: 196)، قال: تُحرِمُ من دُوَيرَةِ أهلِك (5).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Abdullah bin Salimah that Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked about this saying of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, "And complete the Hajj and Umrah for Allah" [Surah al-Baqarah: 196], and he said: "It means that you enter ihram right from your own home town."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(4) ما بين المعقوفين سقط من النسخ الخطية، وأثبتناه من "التلخيص"، وهو الصواب.
Note / Clarification: The text between the square brackets has dropped out of the manuscripts, and we have established (entered) it from "al-Talkhis", and this is correct.
(5) خبر موقوف حسنٌ إن شاء الله إذ مداره على عبد الله بن سلمة، وهذا إسناد ضعيف لضعف عبد الرحمن بن الحسن شيخ المصنف، لكنه مرويٌّ من غير هذا الوجه.
Grading: This report is mawquf and is 'hasan', if Allah wills, since it revolves around Abd Allah bin Salamah; and this chain (here) is da'if (weak) due to the weakness of Abd al-Rahman bin al-Hasan (the author's shaykh),
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: but it is also narrated through a route other than this one.
فقد أخرجه ابن أبي شيبة في "مصنفه" (12834 - عوامة)، وأبو الشيخ في "الأقران" (266)، والبيهقي 4/ 341 و 5/ 30، والضياء في "المختارة" 2/ (604) من طرق عن شعبة، بهذا الإسناد إلى علي بن أبي طالب.
Reference / Source: Ibn Abi Shaybah recorded it in his "Musannaf" (12834 - Awwamah), Abu al-Shaykh in "al-Aqran" (266), al-Bayhaqi in 4/ 341 and 5/ 30, and al-Diya' in "al-Mukhtarah" 2/ (604), via various routes from Shu'bah with this same chain up to Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him).
وفي الباب عن أبي هريرة مرفوعًا عند ابن عدي في "الكامل" 2/ 120، والبيهقي 5/ 31، وسنده ضعيف جدًا.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: On this topic there is a marfu' narration from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) in Ibn Adi's "al-Kamil" 2/ 120 and al-Bayhaqi 5/ 31,
Grading: and its chain is very weak (da'if jiddan).
