أخبرنا أبو بكر محمد بن عبد الله الشافعي، حدثنا إسحاق بن الحسن، حدثنا أبو حُذَيفة، حدثنا سفيان، عن إبراهيم بن مَيسَرة، عن طاووس، عن ابن عبَّاس: ﴿هُنَّ لِبَاسٌ لَكُمْ وَأَنْتُمْ لِبَاسٌ لَهُنَّ﴾ [البقرة: 187]، قال: هنَّ سَكَنٌ لكم وأنتم سَكنٌ لهنَّ (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط البخاري، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) concerning this saying of Allah Almighty, "They are a garment for you and you are a garment for them" [Surah al-Baqarah: 187], that he said: It means that they are a source of tranquillity and comfort for you, and you are a source of tranquillity and comfort for them.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Bukhari, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(1) من قوله: "قال هنَّ" إلى هنا سقط من (ز) و (ص) و (ع)، واستدركناه من (ب) و "التلخيص"، ولا يستقيم إيراد المصنف للحديث إلَّا به، وهو ثابت أيضًا عند من خرَّجه من طريق سفيان.
Note / Clarification: From his statement "قال هنَّ" up to here has dropped out of manuscripts (Z), (S) and ('A), and we have supplied it from manuscript (B) and "al-Talkhis"; the author's (al-Hakim's) citing of the hadith does not make sense without it, and this part is also established with those who recorded it via the route of Sufyan.
والخبر إسناده حسن من أجل أبي حذيفة: وهو موسى بن مسعود النهدي. سفيان: هو الثوري.
Grading: The chain of this report is 'hasan' because of Abu Hudhayfah (Musa bin Mas'ud al-Nahdi).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Sufyan refers to 'al-Thawri'.
وأخرجه ابن أبي حاتم في "تفسيره" 1/ 316 من طريق معاوية بن هشام، عن سفيان، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ibn Abi Hatim recorded it in his "Tafsir" 1/ 316 via the route of Mu'awiyah bin Hisham, from Sufyan, with this same chain.
وأخرجه الطبري في "تفسيره" 2/ 163 من طريق يزيد -وهو ابن إبراهيم التستري- عن عمرو ابن دينار، عن ابن عبَّاس. وإسناده صحيح.
Reference / Source: Al-Tabari recorded it in his "Tafsir" 2/ 163 via the route of Yazid (Ibn Ibrahim al-Tustari), from Amr bin Dinar, from Ibn Abbas.
