Note / Clarification: There is a blank space here in the manuscripts, and it is found in full in al-Nasa'i (6928) from Ishaq bin Ibrahim (who is Ibn Rahawayh) with the wording: "He ruled for retaliation (qisas) regarding a tooth, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The Book of Allah is retaliation."
Grading: The hadith is sahih, and its chain is 'strong' (qawi) because of Abu Khalid al-Ahmar.
Details of the narration: It is an abridged part of the account of al-Rubayyi' bint al-Nadr, which Ahmad recorded in 19/ (12302) and 20/ (12704), al-Bukhari in (2703), (4500) and (4611), Abu Dawud in (4595), Ibn Majah in (2645), and al-Nasa'i in (6932) and (6933), via various routes from Humayd, from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him).
Reference / Source: Ahmad also recorded it in 21/ (14028), Muslim in (1675), and Ibn Hibban in (6491), via the route of Thabit from Anas.
