حدثنا علي بن عيسى، حدثنا إبراهيم بن أبي طالب، حدثنا ابن أبي عمر، حدثنا سفيان، عن عمرو بن دينار، عن مجاهد، عن ابن عبَّاس: ﴿وَأَدَاءٌ إِلَيْهِ بِإِحْسَانٍ﴾ [البقرة: 178]، قال: يؤدِّي المطلوبَ بإحسان (2).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) concerning this saying of Allah Almighty, "And payment to him with kindness" [Surah al-Baqarah: 178], that he said: The one who is obliged to pay the due should pay it with good conduct and in a fine manner.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

(2) إسناده صحيح. ابن أبي عمر: هو محمد بن يحيى بن أبي عمر، وسفيان: هو ابن عيينة.
Grading: Its chain is sahih.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Ibn Abi Umar refers to 'Muhammad bin Yahya bin Abi Umar', and Sufyan refers to 'Ibn Uyaynah'.
وأخرجه البخاري (4498) و (6881)، والنسائي (6957) و (10947) من طرق عن سفيان ابن عيينة بهذا الإسناد. فاستدراك الحاكم له ذهول منه.
Reference / Source: Al-Bukhari recorded it in (4498) and (6881), and al-Nasa'i in (6957) and (10947), via various routes from Sufyan bin Uyaynah with this same chain;
Important point: hence al-Hakim's inclusion of it as a supplement (istidrak) is an oversight on his part.
وأخرجه بنحوه ابن حبان (6010) من طريق محمد بن مسلم الطائفي، عن عمرو بن دينار، به.
Reference / Source: Ibn Hibban (6010) recorded something similar via the route of Muhammad bin Muslim al-Ta'ifi, from Amr bin Dinar, with this same chain.
Grading: Its chain is sahih.
