It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: Were it not for a verse in the Book of Allah, I would not have told anyone anything. It was asked: O Abu Hurayrah, which verse is it? He replied: "Indeed, those who conceal what We have sent down of clear proofs and guidance after We have made it clear to the people in the Book, it is they whom Allah curses and whom those who curse also curse, except those who repent, make amends and make (the truth) clear" [Surah al-Baqarah: 159-160].

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is very weak (da'if jiddan) because of Talhah bin Amr al-Hadrami, since he is 'matruk' (abandoned), Corroborating chains and supporting reports: however, he is not alone in narrating it, since the text (matn) is authentically established through routes other than his. Reference / Source: Zuhayr bin Harb Abu Khaythamah recorded it in the book "al-Ilm" (107), his son in the third part of his "Tarikh" (592), and al-Ramahurmuzi in "al-Muhaddith al-Fasil" (586), via the route of Ibn Jurayj, from Ata' bin Abi Rabah, with this same chain. (371). Reference / Source: Ahmad recorded it in 13/ (7705), al-Bukhari in (118), Ibn Majah in (262), and al-Nasa'i in (5836) via the route of al-A'raj; and Muslim in (2493) and Ibn Hibban in (7153) via the route of Sa'id bin al-Musayyab; both of them narrate from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him). Details of the narration: And see what has passed at number (371).
Note / Clarification: The two Shaykhs (al-Bukhari and Muslim) have recorded it, but through a route other than that of Ata', as has passed.
