Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 3077

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) concerning the saying of Allah: "Enter the gate prostrating" [Surah al-Baqarah: 58], that (they had been commanded) to enter through a narrow gate, bowing, and to say "Hittah", meaning forgiveness. But instead they said "hintah" (wheat) and entered dragging themselves on their backsides. It is about this that Allah Almighty says: "But those who did wrong changed the word to other than what had been said to them." [Surah al-Baqarah: 59]
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.
