حدثني إبراهيم بن إسماعيل القارئ، حدثنا عثمان بن سعيد الدارمي، حدثنا أبو تَوْبة الرَّبيع بن نافع الحلبي، حدثنا معاوية بن سلَّام، حدثني زيد بن سلَّام، أنه سمع أبا سَلَّام يقول: حدثني أبو أُمامة: أنَّ رجلًا قال: يا رسول الله، أنبيٌّ كان آدمُ؟ قال: "نعم، مُعلَّمٌ مُكلَّم" قال: كم بينه وبين نوح؟ قال: "عَشَرَةُ قُرونٍ" قال: كم كان بين نوح وإبراهيم؟ قال: عشرة قرون قالوا: يا رسول الله، كم كانت الرُّسُلُ؟ قال: "ثلاثُ مئةٍ وخمسَ عشرةَ، جَمًّا غَفيرًا" (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط مسلم، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man said: "O Messenger of Allah! Was Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) a prophet?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, he was a prophet taught by Allah and spoken to by Him." He asked: "How long was there between him and Nuh (peace be upon him)?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Ten centuries." He asked again: "How long was there between Nuh and Ibrahim (peace be upon them both)?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Ten centuries." The people asked: "O Messenger of Allah! What was the total number of the messengers?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Three hundred and fifteen, a great multitude."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(1) إسناده صحيح. أبو سلام هو ممطور الحبشي جدُّ زيد.
Grading: Its chain is sahih.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abu Sallam is Mamtur al-Habashi, the grandfather of Zayd.
وأخرجه ابن حبان (6190) من طريق محمد بن عبد الملك بن زنجويه، عن أبي توبة بهذا الإسناد. مختصرًا.

وروي نحوه من وجه آخر ضعيف عن أبي أمامة عند أحمد 36/ (22288).
