أخبرني أبو بكر محمد بن المؤمَّل بن الحسن بن عيسى، حدثنا الفضل ابن محمد الشَّعْراني، حدثنا النُّفْيلي، حدثنا محمد بن سَلَمة، عن خُصَيف بن عبد الرحمن، عن عِكْرمة، عن ابن عبَّاس قال: لمَّا فَرَغَ الله من خلق آدمَ وَجَرَى فيه الرُّوحُ، عَطَسَ فقال: الحمد الله، فقال له ربُّه: يَرحَمُك ربُّك (2).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه، وقد أسنده عَتَّاب عن خُصَيف (3)، وليس من شَرْط هذا الكتاب.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when Allah Almighty had finished creating Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) and the soul began to flow through him, he sneezed and said: "Al-hamdu lillah (All praise is for Allah)." His Lord said to him: "May your Lord have mercy on you."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it. Attab has narrated it with a connected chain via Khusayf, but that is not on the condition of this book.

(2) إسناده حسن في المتابعات والشواهد من أجل خصيف بن عبد الرحمن، النفيلي: هو عبد الله بن محمد بن علي النفيلي.
Grading: Its chain is hasan in corroborating chains and supporting reports, because of Khusayf bin 'Abd al-Rahman.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Al-Nufayli is 'Abdullah bin Muhammad bin 'Ali al-Nufayli.
وأخرجه الفريابي في "القدر" (6) عن إسماعيل بن أبي كريمة، عن محمد بن سلمة الحرّاني، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Al-Firyabi recorded it in "al-Qadar" (6) from Isma'il bin Abi Karimah from Muhammad bin Salamah al-Harrani, with this chain.
ويشهد له حديث أبي هريرة مرفوعًا فيما سلف برقم (215)، ورجاله لا بأس بهم.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: It is supported (as a shahid) by the marfu' hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that has passed under no. (215),
Grading: and its narrators are acceptable (la ba'sa bihim).
(3) عَتَّاب هذا هو ابن بشير، وأحاديثه عن خصيف فيها مناكير. ولم نقف على روايته المسنَدة التي أشار إليها المصنف.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): This 'Attab is Ibn Bashir, and his narrations from Khusayf contain munkar reports (manakir). We have not found the connected (musnad) narration of his to which the author alluded.
