Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 3071

حدثنا أبو العبَّاس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا الحسن بن علي بن عفَّان، حدثنا محمد بن عُبيد، حدثنا مِسعَر، عن عبد الملك بن مَيسَرة، عن عبد الرحمن ابن سابِط، عن عمرو بن ميمون، عن عبد الله بن مسعود قال: إنَّ الحجارة التي سمَّى اللهُ في القرآن ﴿وَقُودُهَا النَّاسُ وَالْحِجَارَةُ﴾ [البقرة: 24]، حجارةٌ من كَبْريت خَلَقها الله عنده كيف شاءَ؛ أو كما شاءَ (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the stones which Allah Almighty mentioned in the Qur'an, "whose fuel is people and stones" [Surah al-Baqarah: 24], are stones of sulphur which Allah Almighty created with Him however He willed, or as He willed.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

وأخرجه ابن المبارك في "الزهد - رواية نعيم بن حماد" (307)، وعبد الرزاق في "تفسيره" 1/ 40، وهناد في "الزهد" (263)، وابن أبي الدنيا في "صفة النار" (232)، والطبري في "تفسيره" 1/ 169، وابن أبي حاتم في "تفسيره" 1/ 64، والطبراني في "الكبير" (9026) من طرق عن مسعر، به، وسيأتي برقم (3869).
