حدثنا أبو العبَّاس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا أحمد بن عبد الجبار العُطارِدي، حدثنا حفص بن غِيَاث عن ابن جُرَيج، عن أبيه، عن سعيد بن جُبَير، عن ابن عبَّاس: ﴿وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَاكَ سَبْعًا مِنَ الْمَثَانِي﴾ [الحجر: 87] قال: فاتحةَ الكتاب، ثم قال: ﴿بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ (1) الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ﴾: فقلت لأَبي: لقد أخبرك سعيدٌ أنَّ ابن عبَّاس قال: بسم الله الرَّحمن الرَّحيم آية؟ قال: نعم (2).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه، وتمامُ هذا الباب في كتاب الصلاة.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) concerning the saying of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic: "And We have certainly given you seven of the oft-repeated (verses)" [Surah al-Hijr: 87], that he said: It refers to Fatihat al-Kitab (Surah al-Fatihah). Then he recited: "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise is for Allah, the Lord of the worlds." (The narrator said:) I asked my father: "Did Sa'id bin Jubayr inform you that Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that Bismillah al-Rahman al-Rahim is a (separate) verse (of Surah al-Fatihah)?" He replied: "Yes."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs (Imam Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it, and the rest of this chapter is in the Book of Prayer.

(2) إسناده ضعيف لضعف والد ابن جريج: وهو عبد العزيز بن جريج، واسم ابنه عبد الملك.
Grading: Its chain is weak because of the weakness of Ibn Jurayj's father.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): He is 'Abd al-'Aziz bin Jurayj, and his son's name is 'Abd al-Malik.
