It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that in the witr prayer the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite "Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High" [Surah al-A'la: 1], "Say: O disbelievers" [Surah al-Kafirun: 1] and "Say: He is Allah, the One" [Surah al-Ikhlas: 1].
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs (Imam Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: The hadith is sahih, and this chain is hasan because of al-Hasan bin 'Ali bin Ziyad and Muhammad bin Anas, Corroborating chains and supporting reports: and both of them have been corroborated. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Al-A'mash is Sulayman bin Mihran, Talhah is Ibn Musarrif al-Yami, and Zubayd is Ibn al-Harith bin 'Abd al-Karim. Reference / Source: Abu Dawud (1423) recorded it from Ibrahim bin Musa, with this chain. Reference / Source: Ahmad 35/(21141), Abu Dawud (1423), Ibn Majah (1171) and Ibn Hibban (2436) recorded it by way of Abu Hafs al-Abbar; and Ahmad (21142), al-Nasa'i (1433) and Ibn Hibban (2450) by way of Abu 'Ubaydah al-Mas'udi; both of them from al-A'mash. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Except that both of them inserted Dharr bin 'Abdullah al-Murhibi (who is thiqah) between Talhah and Zubayd on one side and Sa'id bin 'Abd al-Rahman on the other, and this is a case of al-mazid fi muttasil al-asanid (an extra narrator added in a connected chain). Reference / Source: Ahmad 24/(15354) and 35/(21143), and al-Nasa'i (446) and (1434-1439) recorded it by various routes from Sa'id bin 'Abd al-Rahman bin Abza. Technical note / Defect ('illah): In some of these routes Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) is not mentioned, in which case it would be the mursal of a Companion, because 'Abd al-Rahman bin Abza was a Companion, and the mursal of a Companion is proof. Note / Clarification: His words "وقل للذين كفروا" mean Surat al-Kafirun ﴿قُلْ يَاأَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ﴾ (Say: O disbelievers), and his words "الله الواحد الصمد" mean Surat al-Ikhlas ﴿قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ﴾ (Say: He is Allah, One). (1153). Note / Clarification: The meaning of this hadith of Ubayy (may Allah be pleased with him) is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed witr with three rak'ahs, Corroborating chains and supporting reports: and it is supported (as a shahid) by the hadith of 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that has passed under no. (1153).
