It is narrated from Abd al-Rahman bin Ghanm that he said: I asked Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) about the statement of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, "ghulibat ar-Rum", whether it is "ghulibat" or "ghalabat". He said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) taught him to recite it only as: "Alif Lam Mim. The Romans have been defeated." [Surah al-Rum: 1 - 2]
We have written both of these hadiths only with this chain, except that Muhammad bin Sa'id al-Shami does not meet the condition of this book.

Note / Clarification: Manuscripts (Z), (S) and ('A) have "Abu Bakr bin Abi Dawud", in which the addition of the word "Abi" is an error; the adopted text is from manuscript (B).
Grading: Its chain is also "talif" (extremely weak), like the previous one. General principle: The majority read (غُلِبَت) in the passive voice, while reading (غَلَبَت) in the active voice is "shadh".
