It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever would love to find the sweetness of faith, let him love a person, loving him only for the sake of Allah."
This is a hadith that has not been recorded in the "Two Sahihs", although both of them (Imam Bukhari and Muslim) used the narration of Amr bin Maymun from Abu Hurayrah as evidence, and Imam Muslim also used Abu Balj as evidence. It is a sahih hadith in which no hidden defect ('illah) is known.

Explanation & Benefits

Grading: Its chain is "hasan". Technical note / Defect ('illah): This chain is hasan on account of Abu Balj Yahya bin Abi Sulaym. Details of the narration: Abu Dawud here refers to "Sulayman bin Dawud al-Tayalisi". (7500). Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad narrated it at 16/ (10738) from Sulayman bin Dawud Abu Dawud (who is al-Tayalisi) with this same chain. This narration will also come later at number (7500).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Imam al-Hakim (may Allah have mercy on him) erred here in two matters: Important point: First, (his claim) that the two Shaykhs (al-Bukhari and Muslim) relied on the narration of 'Amr bin Maymun from Abu Hurayrah, whereas neither of them has any narration of 'Amr bin Maymun from Abu Hurayrah. Important point: Second, (his claim) that Imam Muslim relied on Abu Balj, whereas Imam Muslim did not narrate anything at all from him in his "Sahih".
