It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite (the word "hami'ah" with a hamzah) like this: "In a muddy spring." [Surah al-Kahf: 86]
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Hadith Takhrij«
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is strong. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Except that what is "mahfuz" (preserved) in it is that it is mawquf on Ibn 'Abbas, as will come. (2970). Reference / Source: Al-Tahawi narrated it in "Mushkil al-Athar" (282), and al-Tabarani in "al-Kabir" (12480) and "al-Saghir" (1115), by two routes from Abd al-Ghaffar bin Dawud, with this same chain. See also what preceded under number (2970). Technical note / Defect ('illah): Al-Tahawi said: It seems that no one narrated this as "marfu'" from the hadith of Hammad bin Salamah other than Abd al-Ghaffar bin Dawud, and it is among the things in which the people of hadith consider him mistaken, saying that it is "mawquf" on Ibn 'Abbas. Hammad's students contradicted him in it and did not narrate it as marfu'; among those who contradicted him are Khalid bin Abd al-Rahman al-Khurasani and Hajjaj bin Minhal al-Anmati. Details of the narration: Then he narrated it by way of both of them, with his chain to them, as "mawquf" on Ibn 'Abbas. The first of the two (Khalid) is "saduq" and the second (Hajjaj) is "thiqah". It has also been narrated by other routes that support its being "mawquf", as explained in the notes on hadith (3986) of "Sunan Abi Dawud" (al-Risalah al-'Alamiyyah edition).
