أخبرني أبو بكر بن إسحاق الفقيه، أخبرنا علي بن عبد العزيز، حدثنا موسى بن إسماعيل، حدثنا حمّاد بن سَلَمة، عن محمد بن عمرو، عن أبي سَلَمة، عن أبي هريرة: أنَّ النبي ﷺ اقرأ ﴿فَاسْأَلْهُ مَا بَالُ النِّسْوَةِ اللَّاتِي قَطَّعْنَ أَيْدِيَهُنَّ﴾ [يوسف: 50]، قال: "لو بُعِثَ إلىَّ لأسرعتُ الإجابةَ وما ابتَغيتُ العُذْرَ" (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط مسلم، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: "Ask him what is the case of the women who cut their hands?" [Surah Yusuf: 50], and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If the summoner (of the king) had been sent to me, I would have quickly responded to him (instead of demanding my exoneration as Sayyiduna Yusuf (peace be upon him) did), and I would not have sought an excuse."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

(1) حديث صحيح، وهذا إسناد حسن من أجل محمد بن عمرو بن علقمة الليثي.
Grading of the hadith and chain: The hadith is "sahih", and this chain is "hasan" because of Muhammad bin 'Amr bin 'Alqamah al-Laythi.
وأخرجه أحمد 14/ (8554) و 15/ (9060) عن عفان، عن حماد بن سلمة، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (14/ 8554, 15/ 9060) narrated it via 'Affan, from Hammad bin Salamah, with this same chain.
وروى البخاري (3372) و (4694) ومسلم (151) وغيرهما من حديث الزهري، عن أبي سلمة وسعيد بن المسيب، عن أبي هريرة رفعه: "ولو لبثتُ في السجن ما لبثَ يوسف لأجبتُ الداعي"، وسيأتي عند المصنف برقم (3365) من طريق يزيد بن هارون عن محمد بن عمرو عن أبي سلمة مثل ما عندهما، وزاد فيه الآية المذكورة في الحديث هنا.
Reference / Source: Al-Bukhari (3372, 4694) and Muslim (151) narrated from al-Zuhri, from Abu Salamah and Sa'id bin al-Musayyib, from Abu Hurayrah, as marfu': "Had I stayed in prison as long as Yusuf stayed, I would have answered the summoner." It will come later at number (3365) via Yazid bin Harun, from Muhammad bin 'Amr, from Abu Salamah, with the addition of the verse mentioned here.
