Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 2979

حدثنا علي بن حَمْشاذ العَدْل، حدثنا أحمد بن بِشْر المَرثَدي، حدثنا عمرو بن علي، حدثني محبوب بن الحسن، عن خالد الحذَّاء، عن محمد بن سِيرِين، عن أنس: أنَّ النبي ﷺ قرأ: ﴿أَنْ يَكُونَ لَهُ أَسْرَى﴾ [الأنفال: 67] (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited "an yakuna lahu asra" [Surah al-Anfal: 67] "that he should have captives" (with the word "asra").
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

(1) إسناده فيه لين من أجل محبوب بن الحسن: واسمه محمد بن الحسن بن هلال، ومحبوب لقبُه، وهو به أشهَر.
Grading of the chain: This chain has "lin" (slight weakness) because of Mahbub bin al-Hasan. His name is Muhammad bin al-Hasan bin Hilal; Mahbub is his nickname and he is better known by it.
ولم يرد في هذا الحديث ضبط القراءة في هذا الحرف، وجمهور القَرأة على قراءة (يكون) بالياء في أوله، وقرأ أبو عمرو وحده من السبعة (تكون) بالتاء المثناة من فوق. انظر "السبعة" ص 309.
Examination of the reading: The exact vowelling of this word is not stated in this hadith. The majority of readers read (يكون) with ya'. Of the seven readers, only Abu 'Amr read (تكون) with ta'. ("al-Sab'ah", p. 309.)
