حدثنا أبو العبَّاس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا أبو البَختَري عبد الله بن محمد بن شاكر، حدثنا يحيى بن آدم، حدثنا إسرائيل، عن أبي إسحاق، عن عبد الرحمن بن يزيد، عن عبد الله قال: قرأْنا المفصَّلَ بمكة حِجَجًا ليس فيه: يا أيُّها الذين آمَنوا (2).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: For several years in Makkah we recited the Mufassal surahs, in which there was no call of "O you who believe!"
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

(2) إسناده صحيح. أبو إسحاق: هو عمرو بن عبد الله السَّبيعي، وعبد الرحمن بن يزيد: هو ابن قيس النَّخَعي.
Grading of the chain: Its chain is "sahih". Abu Ishaq is "'Amr bin Abdullah al-Sabi'i" and Abd al-Rahman bin Yazid is "Ibn Qays al-Nakha'i".
وأخرجه ابن عدي في "الكامل" 1/ 423 من طريق خلف - وتحرَّف في المطبوع إلى: خالد - بن سالم، عن يحيى بن آدم، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: It was recorded by Ibn 'Adi in "al-Kamil" (1/ 423) via Khalaf (corrupted in the printed edition to Khalid) bin Salim from Yahya bin Adam, with this same chain.
