Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 2916

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that when revelation came down upon the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), none of us could bring himself to raise his gaze towards him (peace and blessings be upon him) until the revelation had ended.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading of the chain: Its chain is "sahih".
Reference / Source: It was recorded by al-Bayhaqi in "al-Dala'il" (7/ 54) from Abu Abdullah al-Hakim, with this same chain.
Technical note: This hadith is in fact a portion of the long hadith about the Conquest of Makkah which was recorded by Ahmad (16/ 10948), Muslim (1780), al-Nasa'i (11234) and Ibn Hibban (4760) via various routes from Sulayman bin al-Mughirah (with al-Nasa'i it is via Zayd bin al-Hubab from Sulayman bin al-Mughirah).
Critique of al-Hakim: Therefore al-Hakim's "istidrak" of it (mentioning it on the assumption that it meets the conditions of the two Shaykhs but they did not record it) is an oversight on his part (may Allah have mercy on him) (since it is in fact in Sahih Muslim).
