أخبرنا أبو بكر بن سلْمان الفقيه، حدثنا الحسن بن مُكْرَم البَزَّاز، حدثنا عثمان بن عمر، حدثنا أبو عامر صالح بن رُستُم، عن الحسن، عن سعد مولى أبي بكر الصِّدِّيق: أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ قال لأبي بكر الصِّدِّيق - وكان سعد مملوكًا له وكان رسول الله ﷺ يُعجِبُه خدمتُه - فقال رسول الله ﷺ: "يا أبا بكر، أعتِقْ سعدًا" فقال: يا رسول الله، ما لَنا ماهِنٌ غيرُه، فقال رسول الله ﷺ: "أتتكَ الرجالُ، أتتكَ الرجالُ" (3).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him), the slave of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) (Sa'd was his slave, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was very pleased with his service); the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Abu Bakr! Free Sa'd." He said: O Messenger of Allah! We have no servant other than him. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Men (other servants) have come to you, men have come to you."
This hadith has a sahih chain of transmission, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

(3) حديث حسن، وهذا إسناد رجاله لا بأس بهم، لكن لم نتبين هل سمع الحسن - وهو ¤ ¤ البصري - من سعد مولى أبي بكر، ولا سيما وقد انفرد الحسن بالرواية عنه، لكن جاء الخبر من وجه آخر مرسل، فيعتضدان.
Grading: This hadith is "hasan", and there is no problem with the narrators of this chain (la ba's bihim).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): But it is not clear whether al-Hasan (al-Basri) heard from Sa'd, the mawla of Abu Bakr, especially since al-Hasan is alone in narrating from him. However, this report has also come through another "mursal" route, so the two strengthen each other.
وأخرجه أحمد 3/ (1717) عن أبي داود الطيالسي سليمان بن داود، عن أبي عامر صالح بن رستم، به.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (3/ 1717) narrated it likewise from Abu Dawud al-Tayalisi Sulayman bin Dawud, from Abu Amir Salih bin Rustam.
وأخرجه أبو إسحاق إبراهيم بن يعقوب الجُوزَجاني في "أمارات النبوة" كما في "جامع الآثار في السير ومولد المختار" لابن ناصر الدين الدمشقي 7/ 332 عن أبي توبة الربيع بن نافع، عن معاوية بن سلّام، عن أبي قلابة عبد الله بن زيد الجرمي، مرسلًا. ورجاله ثقات.
Reference / Source: Abu Ishaq Ibrahim bin Ya'qub al-Juzajani narrated it in "Amarat al-Nubuwwah" (as cited by Ibn Nasir al-Din: 7/ 332) from Abu Tawbah al-Rabi' bin Nafi', from Mu'awiyah bin Sallam, from Abu Qilabah Abd Allah bin Zayd al-Jarmi, as "mursal". Its narrators are "trustworthy".
الماهن: الخادم.
