It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah al-Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him); he relates: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "While I was asleep, two men suddenly came to me. They took hold of me by my upper arms and brought me to a rugged mountain and said to me: Climb it. I said: I do not have the strength for it. They said: We will make it easy for you. So I climbed until, when I reached the top of the mountain, loud voices could be heard. I asked: What are these voices? They said: These are the howls of the people of Hell. Then I was taken further, and I saw people hanging by their hamstrings (the tendons above the heel), the corners of their mouths torn and flowing with blood. I asked: Who are these people? They said: These are the ones who used to break their fast before its time (without excuse). Then I was taken further, and I saw people who were extremely swollen, gave off a foul stench and were most hideous to look at. I asked: Who are these? They said: These are the men and women who commit fornication. Then I was taken further, and I saw women whose breasts were being bitten by snakes. I asked: What is the matter with them? They said: These are the women who used to withhold their milk from their children. Then I was taken further, and I saw some children playing between two rivers. I asked: Who are these? They said: These are the offspring of the believers who died in childhood. Then an elevated place appeared before me, where I saw three men drinking from their wine (the drink of Paradise or the cup of al-Kawthar). I asked: Who are these? They said: These are Ja'far bin Abi Talib, Zayd and Ibn Rawahah. Then another elevated place appeared before me, where there were three men. I asked: Who are these? They said: These are Ibrahim, Musa and Isa (peace be upon them), and they are waiting for you."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it. Imam Bukhari used all of its narrators as evidence except Sulaym bin Amir, and Imam Muslim used Sulaym bin Amir as evidence as well.
