حدثنا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا العباس بن محمد بن حاتم، حدثنا عُبيد الله بن عبد المجيد الحَنَفي، حدثنا عُبيد الله بن عبد الرحمن بن مَوهَب، عن القاسم، عن عائشة: أنها أرادت أن تُعتِقَ مملُوكَين؛ زَوجٌ، فسألتِ النبيَّ ﷺ، فأمرَها أن تبدأَ بالرجلِ قبلَ المرأة (2).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she intended to free a married slave couple, and she asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed her to begin (the freeing) with the man before the woman.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

(2) إسناده محتمل للتحسين، رجاله ثقات غير عُبيد الله بن عبد الرحمن بن موهب، فهو مُختلَف في توثيقه كما قال الذهبي في "تلخيصه"، على أنه جزم في كتابه "مَن تُكلِّم فيه وهو مُوثَّق" بأنه صالح الحديث.
Grading: This chain has the potential to be graded "hasan".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Its narrators are trustworthy except "Ubayd Allah bin Abd al-Rahman bin Mawhab"; there is disagreement over his reliability, as al-Dhahabi said in "al-Talkhis", although in his book "Man Tukullima fihi wa Huwa Muwaththaq" he stated firmly that he is "salih al-hadith" (fair in hadith).
وأخرجه أبو داود (2237)، وابن ماجه (2532) من طرق عن عُبيد الله بن عبد المجيد الحنفي، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Abu Dawud (2237) and Ibn Majah (2532) narrated it through various routes from Ubayd Allah bin Abd al-Majid al-Hanafi, with this same chain.
وأخرجه النسائي (1915) عن محمد بن بشار، وابن حبان (4311) من طريق محمد بن يحيى الذهلي، كلاهما عن حماد بن مَسعَدة، عن عبيد الله بن مَوهَب، به.
Reference / Source: Al-Nasa'i (1915) recorded it from Muhammad bin Bashshar, and Ibn Hibban (4311) by way of Muhammad bin Yahya al-Dhuhli. Both of them narrated it likewise from Hammad bin Mas'adah, from Ubayd Allah bin Mawhab.
وأخرجه النسائي (4915) و (5610) عن إسحاق بن راهويه، عن حماد بن مسعدة، به مرسلًا.
