Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 285

Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) says concerning the saying of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, "And for the one who fears standing before his Lord there are two gardens" [Surah al-Rahman: 46]: Two gardens of gold will be for the Sabiqun (the foremost), and two gardens of silver will be for the Tabi'un (those who follow).
This chain is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Muslim, but they did not record it in this way; they recorded, by way of Abu Imran al-Jawni, only the words "two gardens of silver", and there is no mention in it of the foremost and those who follow.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is sahih.
Identification of names: Abu Imran al-Jawni is Abd al-Malik bin Habib al-Azdi.
Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi narrated it in "al-Ba'th wa al-Nushur" (219) from Abu Abd Allah al-Hakim, with this chain.
Reference / Source: Al-Dinawari narrated it in "al-Mujalasah" (1414) via Sulayman bin Harb, and Abu Nu'aym in "Sifat al-Jannah" (142) via Mu'adh al-Anbari; both of them from Hammad bin Salamah.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Mu'ammal bin Isma'il differed (from the other narrators) in al-Bayhaqi's "al-Ba'th" (220), narrating it from Hammad bin Salamah with this wording as "marfu'"; and Mu'ammal had a poor memory (sayyi' al-hifz).
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Hammad bin Zayd corroborated Hammad bin Salamah in narrating it as "mawquf", in al-Bayhaqi's "al-Ba'th" (218).
Note / Clarification: This narration will come later with the author (al-Hakim) at no. (3814) via Abd al-Samad bin Abd al-Warith from Hammad bin Salamah.

Reference / Source: Al-Bukhari (4878, 7444) and Muslim (180) narrated it via several routes from Abd al-Aziz bin Abd al-Samad, with this chain, in the wording: "Two gardens of silver, their vessels and all that is in them; and two gardens of gold, their vessels and all that is in them; and nothing stands between the people and their seeing their Lord except the cloak of majesty (rida' al-kibr) over His Face in the Garden of Eden."
Note / Clarification: For the complete takhrij, see "Musnad Ahmad" (32/19682).

Reference / Source: Al-Bukhari and Muslim narrated it via Abd al-Aziz bin Abd al-Samad with the wording beginning "Two gardens of silver".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The hadith of al-Harith bin Ubayd is similar in meaning (Musnad Ahmad 32/19731), but al-Harith bin Ubayd is not a very strong narrator, and this hadith of his is not in either of the two (Sahihs).
Details of the narration: However, Muslim (2838) narrated with this chain, from Abu Musa, as marfu', the narration: "The believer in Paradise will have a tent of a hollowed pearl, sixty miles long; the believer will have families in it whom he visits, and they do not see one another," in which he is corroborated there; and al-Bukhari (3243) narrated it via Hammam from Abu Imran al-Jawni, then mentioned al-Harith bin Ubayd among the corroborations.
