It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "In a state of extreme anger or coercion (ighlaq), there is neither divorce nor the freeing of a slave."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it. Abu Safwan al-Umawi corroborated Muhammad bin Ishaq's narration, but dropped the name of Muhammad bin Ubayd from the chain.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: The chain of this hadith is "da'if" (weak) because of the weakness of Muhammad bin 'Ubayd bin Abi Salih, as al-Dhahabi said in "al-Talkhis". Reference / Source: Ibn Majah (2046) narrated it from Abu Bakr bin Abi Shaybah, from Abd Allah bin Numayr, with this chain. Technical note / Defect ('illah): But in his narration he named Muhammad bin 'Ubayd as "'Ubayd bin Abi Salih". Al-Mizzi and Ibn Abd al-Hadi said: this is an error (wahm). Reference / Source: Ahmad (43/ 26360) and Abu Dawud (2193) narrated it via Ibrahim bin Sa'd, from Muhammad bin Ishaq, likewise. Details of the narration: This narration will come after it via Thawr bin Yazid, from Safiyyah bint Shaybah, with no intermediary between the two. Note / Clarification: "Al-ighlaq" means: coercion (ikrah). Note / Clarification: See the jurisprudence of this hadith in "Sunan Abi Dawud" with our editing.
