It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Ghaylan bin Salamah al-Thaqafi (may Allah be pleased with him) accepted Islam while he had eight wives, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded him to choose four of them.
The people of Yamamah narrated it from Ma'mar in this same way.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: The word "Abu" has dropped out of the manuscripts, and the correct course is to restore it, because the author (al-Hakim) took several narrations from this shaykh of his and in them he used to call him "Abu al-Husayn bin Ya'qub al-Hafiz". He is Muhammad bin Muhammad bin Ya'qub al-Hajjaji al-Naysaburi, whose biography is in "Siyar A'lam al-Nubala'" (16/ 240). What supports that it is he is that he has a narration from Muhammad bin Muhammad bin Sulayman (al-Baghandi) found with others besides the author: al-Wahidi narrated in his "al-Tafsir al-Wasit" (4/ 219) via him from al-Baghandi.
Grading: The chain of this hadith is "extremely weak" (wahin) because of Ahmad bin Muhammad bin 'Umar bin Yunus. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Ibn Sa'id called him a liar, as al-Dhahabi mentioned in "al-Talkhis", and in "al-Mizan" he added that Abu Hatim also called him a liar. Al-Daraqutni called him "matruk" (abandoned) and once "da'if" (weak). Ibn 'Adi said: he narrates munkar reports from trustworthy narrators. We say: this chain is also among his munkar reports, since no one other than him narrated it via Yahya bin Abi Kathir. Moreover, he was inconsistent in it: sometimes it was narrated from him as it appears here with the author, and a group narrated it from him, from his grandfather, from Yahya bin Abd al-'Aziz al-Urdunni, from Yahya bin Abi Kathir; thus he dropped his father from the chain and added a man, Yahya bin Abd al-'Aziz al-Urdunni, before Yahya bin Abi Kathir. The earlier routes from Ma'mar make this narration unnecessary. Reference / Source: Ibn 'Adi in "al-Kamil" (1/ 178), Abu al-Shaykh al-Asbahani in "Dhikr al-Aqran" (221), Abu Nu'aym al-Asbahani in "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (5629) and Abu Musa al-Madini in "al-Lata'if" (170) narrated it (via several routes) from Ahmad bin Muhammad bin 'Umar bin Yunus, from his grandfather, from Yahya bin Abd al-'Aziz, from Yahya bin Abi Kathir. Thus they did not mention "Muhammad bin 'Umar bin Yunus" in their narrations, and they added the man mentioned (Yahya bin Abd al-'Aziz) to the chain.
