أخبرني أبو عمرو بن إسماعيل، حدثنا أبو بكر محمد بن إسحاق الإمام، حدثنا عبد الوارث بن عبد الصمد بن عبد الوارث العَنْبري، حدثني أبي، عن عبد الرحمن بن عبد الله بن دينار، عن محمد بن سِيرِين، عن ابن عمر، أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ قال: "إنَّ أعظمَ الذُّنوب عند الله رجلٌ تَزوّج امرأةً، فلما قضى حاجتَه منها طَلَّقها وذَهَب بمَهرِها (1)، ورجلٌ استعملَ رجلًا فذهب بأُجرتِه، وآخَرُ يَقتُل دَابَّةً (2) عَبَثًا" (3).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط البخاري، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Among the gravest sins with Allah is (the sin of) a man who marries a woman, and when he has fulfilled his need from her, divorces her and takes away her dowry; and a man who hires someone and withholds his wages; and a man who kills an animal merely for sport, without reason."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Bukhari, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(1) وقع في (ز) و (ص) و (ع): مهرها. بإسقاط الباء، والمثبت من (ب) وهو الموافق لرواية البيهقي في "السنن الكبرى" 7/ 241 عن أبي عبد الله الحاكم، بهذا الجادة.
Note / Clarification: In manuscripts (Z), (S) and ('A) the word "مهرها" (without the 'ba'') appears, whereas the text we have established is taken from manuscript (B), and this agrees with the narration of al-Bayhaqi in "al-Sunan al-Kubra" (7/ 241), which he transmitted from Abu 'Abdullah al-Hakim by this same chain (jaddah).
(2) في (ز) و (ص): دابته، والمثبت من (ب) و (ع)، وهو الموافق لرواية البيهقي عن الحاكم، وهو أنسب وأليق.
Note / Clarification: Manuscripts (Z) and (S) have the words "دابته" (his animal), whereas we have established the text from manuscripts (B) and ('A), and this agrees with al-Bayhaqi's narration from al-Hakim, and in view of the context it is more fitting and appropriate.
(3) إسناده حسن من أجل عبد الرحمن بن عبد الله بن دينار، فهو صدوق.
Grading: The chain of this hadith is "hasan".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The reason the chain is hasan is the narrator "'Abd al-Rahman bin 'Abdullah bin Dinar", who is "saduq" (truthful but with a slight weakness in memory).
وأخرجه البيهقي 7/ 241 عن أبي عبد الله الحاكم، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi (7/ 241) narrated it from Abu 'Abdullah al-Hakim with this same chain.
