It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no marriage (contracted) without a guardian (wali)."
This hadith was also narrated from Abu Ishaq with a connected chain by Zuhayr bin Mu'awiyah al-Ju'fi and Abu Awanah al-Waddah, and all the experts of hadith agree on the reliability, precedence and excellent memory of both of them. As for the hadith of Zuhayr:

Grading: This hadith is "sahih", and this chain is "hasan" because of Yunus bin Abi Ishaq al-Sabi'i, and he has also been corroborated. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Yunus narrated it sometimes via his father (Abu Ishaq) and sometimes directly from Abu Burdah bin Abi Musa al-Ash'ari (as will come at numbers 2749 and 2750). It is not unlikely that he narrated it both ways, since he shared many of his father's teachers; Ibn Sa'd said in "al-Tabaqat" (8/483): "He narrated from most of his father's men." Important point: The statement of Imam Ali bin al-Madini, which al-Hakim mentioned after narration (2750), indicates his acknowledgement that Yunus heard directly from Abu Burdah; and Allah knows best. Reference / Source: Al-Tirmidhi (1101) recorded it via Zayd bin al-Hubab, from Yunus bin Abi Ishaq, with this same chain.
