أخبرنا أبو العباس القاسم بن القاسم السَّيَّاري بمَرْو، حدثنا محمد بن موسى بن حاتم الباشاني، حدثنا علي بن الحسن بن شقيق، حدثنا الحسين بن واقِد، عن عبد الله بن بُريدة، عن أبيه قال: خطب أبو بكر وعمرُ فاطمةَ، فقال رسول الله ﷺ: "إنَّها صغيرة"، فخطبها عليٌّ فزَوَّجَها (2).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Abu Bakr and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) proposed marriage to Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "She is still young." Then Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) proposed, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) married her to him.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

(2) حديث قوي، وهذا إسناد حسن، محمد بن موسى بن حاتم حسن الحديث كما بيناه عند الحديث (127)، وقد توبع. ¤ ¤ وأخرجه النسائي (5310)، وابن حبان (6948) من طريق الحسين بن حُريث، عن الفضل بن موسى، عن الحسين بن واقد، بهذا الإسناد.
Grading: This hadith is "strong" (qawi), and its chain is "hasan". The narrator Muhammad bin Musa bin Hatim is hasan al-hadith (as we explained under hadith number 127), and he has also been corroborated.
Reference / Source: Al-Nasa'i (5310) and Ibn Hibban (6948) recorded it via al-Husayn bin Hurayth, from al-Fadl bin Musa, from al-Husayn bin Waqid, with this same chain.
