حدثنا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا محمد بن عبيد الله بن أبي داود المُنادي، حدثنا يونس بن محمد المؤدِّب، حدثنا سلَّام بن أبي مُطيع، عن قَتَادة، عن الحسن، عن سَمُرة قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "الحَسَبُ المالُ، والكَرَمُ التقوى" (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط البخاري، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "(For worldly prestige) noble standing (hasab) is wealth, and (true) nobility and honour is taqwa (God-consciousness)."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Bukhari, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(1) إسناده صحيح، والحسن - وهو البصري - سماعه من سمرة صحيح كما بيّنّاه في تعليقنا على الحديث (151).
Grading: Its chain is "sahih".
Important point: The hearing (sama') of al-Hasan al-Basri from Samurah bin Jundab (may Allah be pleased with him) is established and sound, as we explained in detail in our commentary on hadith number (151).
وأخرجه أحمد 33/ (20102) عن يونس بن محمد بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ahmad recorded it in "al-Musnad" (33/20102) from Yunus bin Muhammad, with this same chain.
وأخرجه ابن ماجه (4219)، والترمذي (3271) من طريقين عن يونس بن محمد، به. وقال الترمذي: حسن صحيح غريب.
Reference / Source: Ibn Majah (4219) and al-Tirmidhi (3271) recorded it via two different routes from Yunus bin Muhammad.
Grading: Al-Tirmidhi said of it: "hasan sahih gharib".
ويشهد له ما قبله.

وسيتكرر الحديث بإسناده ومتنه برقم (8120).
