It is narrated from Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said during one of his journeys: "We will travel tonight (mudlijun), if Allah wills, so let no one travel with us who is weak (because of his mount) or whose she-camel is unruly." Then a man set out on his unruly she-camel; he fell, his neck broke and he died. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that he be buried, then he ordered Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), who called out: "Indeed, Paradise is not lawful for one who disobeys."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Grading: It is "hasan li-ghayrihi", although this chain of it has "lin" (softness) because of Rashid bin Dawud al-San'ani; there is disagreement about him: Ibn Ma'in and Duhaym called him thiqah, al-Bazzar said "there is no harm in him", while al-Bukhari and al-Daraqutni called him weak. However, this story is also narrated through a mursal route whose narrators are thiqah, and the final marfu' part of the hadith is narrated through another mursal route whose narrators are also thiqah. 3/ 41. Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (37/22364) narrated it via Isma'il bin 'Ayyash from Rashid bin Dawud, and al-Haythami graded it "hasan" in "Majma' al-Zawa'id" (3/41). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: This hadith is supported by the mursal narration of al-Qasim bin 'Abd al-Rahman al-Dimashqi with Sa'id bin Mansur (2493), whose narrators are thiqah; it mentions that this incident took place at "Khaybar". This same mursal narration is also narrated as "mawsul" (connected) with mention of Abu Umamah by al-Ruyani (1234) and al-Tabarani (7792, 7793), but it contains "Layth bin Abi Sulaym", who had a poor memory, so his connecting it is not relied upon. Corroborating chains and supporting reports: The final marfu' part of this hadith is also found, within a story, in the mursal narration of 'Urwah bin al-Zubayr narrated in Abu Dawud's "al-Marasil" (319), and its narrators are also thiqah.
