Book of the Distribution of Fay
الَّذِي مَاتَ مُرَابِطًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ يَنْمُو لَهُ عَمَلُهُ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ وَيُؤَمَّنُ فِتْنَةَ الْقَبْرِ .
One who dies guarding the frontier in the path of Allah, his deeds continue to grow until the Day of Resurrection

أخبرنا أبو العباس قاسم بن القاسم السَّيّاري، حدثنا أبو المُوجِّه، أخبرنا عَبْدان، أخبرنا عبد الله، أخبرني حَيْوة بن شُريح، أخبرني أبو هانئ حُميد بن هانئ الخَوْلاني، أنَّ عمرو بن مالك الجَنْبي أخبره، أنه سمع فَضَالة بن عُبيد يحدِّث عن رسول الله ﷺ، قال: "مَن ماتَ على مَرْتَبةٍ من هذه المَراتِب، بُعِث عليها يومَ القيامة: رِباطٌ، أو حجٌّ، أو غيرُ ذلك" (2).
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Fadalah bin Ubayd (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever dies in any state (of righteous deeds) will be raised in that same state on the Day of Resurrection, whether it be guarding the frontier, Hajj, or any other deed."

(2) إسناده صحيح. أبو المُوَجِّه: هو محمد بن عمرو الفَزَاري، وعَبْدان: هو عبد الله بن عثمان بن جَبَلة، وعَبْدان لقبُه، وعبد الله: هو ابن المبارك.
Grading: Its chain is "sahih".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In the chain, "Abu al-Muwajjih" is Muhammad bin 'Amr al-Fazari, "'Abdan" is 'Abdullah bin 'Uthman bin Jabalah ('Abdan is his nickname), and "'Abdullah" is the well-known Imam 'Abdullah bin al-Mubarak.
وأخرجه أحمد (39/ 23941) عن إبراهيم بن إسحاق، عن عبد الله بن المبارك، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad narrated it (39/23941) through Ibrahim bin Ishaq from 'Abdullah bin al-Mubarak with this same chain.
وأخرجه أيضًا (23945) عن أبي عبد الرحمن عبد الله بن يزيد المقرئ، عن حيوة بن شُريح، به وقَرَنَ به عبدَ الله بنَ لَهيعة.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad also narrated it (23945) through Abu 'Abd al-Rahman 'Abdullah bin Yazid al-Muqri' from Haywah bin Shurayh, and in it 'Abdullah bin Lahi'ah is mentioned together with Haywah (paired with him).
وقد تقدم برقم (1276) من طريق عبد الله بن وهب عن أبي هانئ الخولاني.
Reference / Source: This narration has already appeared at number (1276) via 'Abdullah bin Wahb from Abu Hani' al-Khawlani.
Grading: Its chain is "sahih".
