Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 2662

حدثنا محمد بن صالح بن هانئ، حدثنا الحسين بن الفضل البَجَلي، حدثنا عفّان بن مسلم، حدثنا حماد بن سَلَمة، حدثني محمد بن عمرو، عن أبي سلمة، عن أبي هريرة: أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ كان يدعو فيقول: "اللهم أمتِعْني بسمْعي وبصري، واجعلْهما الوارثَ منّي، اللهم انصُرْني على عدوِّي، وأرِني فيه ثأْري" (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط مسلم ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to make this supplication: 'Allahumma amti'ni bi-sam'i wa basari, waj'alhuma al-waritha minni; Allahumma-nsurni 'ala 'aduwwi, wa arini fihi tha'ri' (O Allah, let me benefit from my hearing and my sight (throughout my life) and make them my heir; O Allah, help me against my enemy and grant me victory over him, so that I see my revenge on him with my own eyes).
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(1) إسناده حسن من أجل محمد بن عمرو: وهو ابن علقمة الليثي.
Grading: Its chain is "hasan" because of Muhammad bin 'Amr bin 'Alqamah al-Laythi.
وقد تقدم برقم (1939) من طريق عبد الرحمن المحاربي عن محمد بن عمرو.
Reference / Source: This narration has already appeared at number (1939), where 'Abd al-Rahman al-Muharibi narrated it through Muhammad bin 'Amr.
