It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that whenever the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) felt danger from a people, he would make this supplication: 'Allahumma inna naj'aluka fi nuhurihim, wa na'udhu bika min shururihim' (O Allah, we place You as a shield against them, and we seek refuge in You from their evils).
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), and my strongest assumption is that they did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: All its narrators are thiqah (trustworthy), except that there is discussion and doubt about Qatadah (bin Di'amah al-Sadusi) having heard from Abu Burdah ('Amir bin Abi Musa al-Ash'ari). Technical note / Defect ('illah): Yahya bin Ma'in said: "I do not know that Qatadah heard from Abu Burdah"; Ishaq bin Mansur reported this from him, as in al-'Ala'i's "Jami' al-Tahsil". Although in al-Ruyani's "Musnad" (461) Qatadah explicitly states that he heard it, the difficulty is that in the Musnad of al-Bazzar (3136) this same hadith comes with 'an'anah, even though the teacher of both al-Bazzar and al-Ruyani (Nasr bin 'Ali al-Jahdami) is the same, narrating it from Mu'adh bin Hisham al-Dastuwa'i. Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar called it hasan gharib in "Nata'ij al-Afkar" (4/104) and said its narrators are those of the Sahih, but Qatadah is a mudallis and he had not seen it from him except with 'an'anah; moreover, only his son narrated it from Abu Musa, and only Qatadah narrated it from Abu Burdah. Reference / Source: Musnad Ahmad (32/19720) from 'Ali bin al-Madini, Abu Dawud (1537), al-Nasa'i (10362) from Muhammad bin al-Muthanna, al-Nasa'i (8577) from 'Ubaydullah bin Sa'id, and Ibn Hibban (4765) via Ishaq bin Ibrahim bin Kamajra; all of them narrate it from Mu'adh bin Hisham with this same chain. Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad recorded it (19719) via 'Imran bin Dawar al-Qattan, who narrates it from Qatadah with this same chain.
