مَا نَقَضَ قَوْمٌ الْعَهْدَ قَطُّ إِلَّا كَانَ الْقَتْلُ بَيْنَهُمْ وَلَا ظَهَرَتِ الْفَاحِشَةُ فِي قَوْمٍ إِلَّا سَلَّطَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمُ الْمَوْتَ وَلَا مَنَعَ قَوْمٌ الزَّكَاةَ إِلَّا حَبَسَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمُ الْقَطْرَ .
No people ever break a covenant except that killing occurs among them, and indecency does not appear among a people except that Allah sends death upon them

أخبرنا أبو عبد الله محمد بن الصَّنْعاني بمكة، حدثنا إسحاق بن إبراهيم بن عَبّاد الصَّنْعاني، أخبرنا عبد الرزاق. وأخبرنا أبو بكر محمد بن أحمد بن بالَوَيهِ بنَيسابُور وأبو بكر أحمد بن جعفر القَطِيعي ببغداد، قالا: حدثنا عبد الله بن أحمد بن حنبل، حدثني أبي، حدثنا عبد الرزاق، أخبرنا مَعمَر، عن قَتَادة، عن الحسن عن أبي بَكْرة، أنَّ النبي ﷺ قال: "رِيحُ الجنة لَتُوجدُ من مَسِيرة مئة عامٍ، وما مِن عبد يَقتُل نفسًا مُعاهَدَةً إِلَّا حَرَّم الله عليه الجنةَ ورائحتَها أن يَجِدَها". قال أبو بكرة: أصمَّ اللهُ أُذني إن لم أكن سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول هذا (2).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط البخاري، ولم يُخرجاه. وله شاهد عن عبد الله بن عَمرو بإسناد صحيح:

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The fragrance of Paradise can be perceived from a distance of a hundred years' travel, and whoever kills a mu'ahad (a non-Muslim with whom there is a covenant of peace), Allah will forbid Paradise and (finding) its fragrance to him." Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said (emphatically): May my ears become deaf if I did not hear this from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Bukhari, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Identification of names: Here al-Hasan refers to "al-Hasan al-Basri".
وهو في "مسند أحمد" (34/ 20469)، لكنه قال فيه: عن قتادة وغير واحد.
Note / Clarification: This narration is also in Musnad Ahmad (20469), but there the wording is "from Qatadah and others".
وقد تقدم برقم (134) (135) من طريق يونس بن عبيد عن الحسن البصري.
Reference / Source: It has preceded at nos. (134) and (135) by way of Yunus bin 'Ubayd from al-Hasan al-Basri.
وبرقم (136) من طريق الأشعث بن ثُرْمُلة عن أبي بَكرة.
Reference / Source: At no. (136) it is narrated by way of al-Ash'ath bin Thurmulah from Abu Bakrah.
وسيأتي برقم (2663) من طريق عبد الرحمن بن جَوشَن عن أبي بَكرة.
Details of the narration: It will come later at no. (2663) by way of 'Abd al-Rahman bin Jawshan from Abu Bakrah.
