أخبرَناه أبو الفضل الحَسَن بن يعقوب العَدْل، حدثنا محمد بن عبد الوهاب، حدثنا جعفر بن عَوْن، أخبرنا أبو حيَّان يحيى بن سعيد بن حيَّان التَّيْمِيُّ، تَيْمُ الرَّبَاب، حدثني يزيد بن حيَّان التَّيمي قال: شهدتُ زيدَ بن أرقمَ وبَعَثَ إليه عبيدُ الله بن زياد، فقال: ما أحاديثُ بَلَغَني عنك تحدِّث بها عن رسول الله ﷺ تَزعُم أنَّ له حوضًا في الجنة؟ فقال: حدثنا ذاك رسولُ الله ﷺ ووَعَدَناه، فقال: كذبتَ، ولكنك شيخ قد خَرِفتَ، قال: أمَا إنه سَمِعَتْه أُذناي من رسول الله ﷺ يعني - وسمعتُه يقول: "مَن كَذَبَ علي متعمِّدًا فليَتَبوَّأْ مقعدَه من النار"، وما كذبتُ على رسول الله ﷺ (1).
It is narrated from Yazid bin Hayyan al-Taymi that he said: I was present with Sayyiduna Zayd bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) when Ubaydullah bin Ziyad sent for him and said: What are these hadiths that have reached me about you, that you narrate from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and claim that he (peace and blessings be upon him) has a Pool in Paradise? He replied: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) narrated this to us and promised it to us. He said: You are lying; you (Zayd bin Arqam) have grown old and senile. Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Indeed, these ears of mine heard it from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and I also heard him (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Whoever deliberately lies about me, let him take his seat in the Fire." And I have never lied about the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
It has a shahid (supporting narration) on the condition of Muslim, narrated from Zayd bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him), in which the Pool is mentioned in other words.

Grading: Its chain is sahih.
وأخرجه أحمد 32/ (19266) عن إسماعيل ابن عليَّة، عن أبي حيان التيمي، بهذا الإسناد، لكن لم يذكر فيه أنَّ يزيد بن حيان شهد هذه القصة عند عبيد الله بن زياد، وإنما حدَّثه بها زيد بن أرقم، وكذلك هو في حديث يحيى بن سعيد القطان عن أبي حيان التيمي عند الطحاوي في "مشكل الآثار" (409).
Reference / Source: Ahmad (32/19266) narrated it from Isma'il Ibn Ulayyah, from Abu Hayyan al-Taymi, with this chain; but it does not mention that Yazid bin Hayyan witnessed this incident with Ubayd Allah bin Ziyad, rather that Zayd bin Arqam told him about it.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: It is likewise in the narration of Yahya bin Sa'id al-Qattan from Abu Hayyan al-Taymi in al-Tahawi's "Mushkil al-Athar" (409).
