أَوَّلُ مَا يُهْرَاقُ مِنْ دَمِ الشَّهِيدِ يُغْفَرُ لَهُ ذَنْبُهُ .

حدثنا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا محمد بن عبد الله بن عبد الحَكَم، أخبرنا ابن وهب، أخبرني عبد الرحمن بن سعد المُزني، عن سَهْل بن أبي أُمامة ابن سهل بن حُنيف، عن أبيه، عن جده، أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ قال: "إِنَّ أول ما يُهْرَاقُ من دمِ الشهيد تُغفَر له ذنوبه" (2).
Sahl bin Abi Umamah narrates from his father, and he from his grandfather (Sayyiduna Sahl bin Hunayf (may Allah be pleased with him)), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "As soon as the first drop of the martyr's blood falls, his sins are forgiven."

(2) صحيح لغيره، وهذا إسناد ضعيف لجهالة عبد الرحمن بن سعد المزني.
Grading: On the basis of other supporting reports this narration is "sahih li-ghayrihi", although this particular chain of it is weak because Abd al-Rahman bin Sa'd al-Muzani is majhul.
وأخرجه البيهقي 9/ 163 عن أبي عبد الله الحاكم، بهذا الإسناد. ¤ ¤ وأخرجه أبو يعلى الموصلي في "مسنده الكبير" كما في "المطالب العالية" للحافظ (1926) عن هارون بن معروف، والطبراني في "الكبير" (5552) من طريق سليمان بن عبد الرحمن الدمشقي، و (5553) من طريق أحمد بن صالح، والخطيب البغدادي في "المتفق والمفترق" (899) من طريق يحيى بن سليمان الجُعفي، أربعتهم عن عبد الله بن وهب، به. غير أنَّ سليمان الدمشقي قال في روايته عن عبد الرحمن بن شريح، بدل: ابن سعد، وقول الجماعة أثبت.

Technical note / Defect ('illah): Sulayman al-Dimashqi said "Abd al-Rahman bin Shurayh" in his narration, whereas all the other hadith scholars said "Ibn Sa'd", and the statement of the group is firmer (athbat).

وحديث المقدام بن معدي كرب عند أحمد 28/ (17182)، وابن ماجه (2799)، والترمذي (1663)، وصحَّحه الترمذي. ولفظه: " للشهيد عند الله ست خِصال: يغفر له في أول دفعة من دمه" الحديث.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: The hadith of al-Miqdam bin Ma'dikarib is in Imam Ahmad (28/ 17182), Ibn Majah (2799) and al-Tirmidhi (1663) (al-Tirmidhi declared it sahih). Its wording is: "The martyr has six qualities with Allah: he is forgiven at the first gush of his blood".
