أخبرني إسماعيل بن محمد بن إسماعيل الفقيه بالرَّيّ، حدثنا محمد بن الفَرَج الأزرق، حدثنا حجّاج بن محمد، قال: قال ابن جُرَيج: ﴿يَاأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا الرَّسُولَ وَأُولِي الْأَمْرِ مِنْكُمْ﴾ [النساء:59]، عبد الله بن قيس بن عَدِيّ بعثه النبيُّ ﷺ في سريّة. أخبرَنيهِ يَعلَى بن مسلم، عن سعيد بن جُبير، عن ابن عباس (2).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the saying of Allah Almighty: "O you who believe, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you" [al-Nisa: 59] was revealed concerning Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Qays bin Adi (may Allah be pleased with him), whom the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent as the commander of a military detachment.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

(2) إسناده صحيح. ابن جُرَيج: هو عبد الملك بن عبد العزيز المكي.
Grading: The chain is sahih. Ibn Jurayj is Abd al-Malik bin Abd al-Aziz al-Makki.
