Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 2542

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that four hundred households, or four hundred men, of the tribe of Azd Shanu'ah came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as a delegation, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Welcome to the people of Azd, the most beautiful of people in face, the purest in the fragrance of their mouths, the bravest in encounter and the most trustworthy in keeping a trust. Your battle cry (shi'ar) shall be 'Ya Mabrur'."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Hadith Grading
Hadith Takhrij «
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In the manuscripts "Amr" is a corruption; the correct name is the one in manuscript (B) and in the other takhrij works.

Grading: The chain is very da'if because Umar bin Salih is "matruk al-hadith". By Abu Jamrah is meant Nasr bin Imran al-Duba'i.
Reference / Source: Al-Uqayli narrated it in "al-Du'afa'", Ibn Adi in "al-Kamil" and Ibn Asakir in "Tarikh Dimashq" through various routes.
Reference / Source: The mention of the slogan of the Azd tribe will come later at (5213), but there is a break in it.
