(1). It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man emigrated from Yemen to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! I have emigrated." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "You have emigrated from shirk (polytheism), but now the matter is jihad. Do you have anyone (of your family) in Yemen?" He said: "My parents." He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Have they given you permission?" He said: "No." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Go back to them and ask their permission. If they give you permission, then fight in jihad; otherwise, be dutiful (and of service) to them."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it with this wording; however, they agreed on the hadith of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both): "Then strive (make jihad) in (serving) the two of them (your parents)."

Grading: Its chain is da'if because Darraj Abu al-Samh is weak when he narrates from Abu al-Haytham. By Ibn Wahb is meant Abdullah bin Wahb. Reference / Source: Abu Dawud (2530), Ibn Hibban (422) and Ahmad (18/11721) narrated it from Darraj through Ibn Lahi'ah and Ibn Wahb. (10): Note / Clarification: The words of the hadith "I have emigrated from shirk" are explained by this hadith of Sahih al-Bukhari (10): General principle: "The true emigrant is the one who abandons what Allah has forbidden."
