Three things follow the believer after his death
Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 253

أخبرَناه أحمد بن جعفر القَطِيعي، حدثنا عبد الله بن أحمد بن حَنبَل، حدثني أَبي، حدثنا عبد الصمد بن عبد الوارث، حدثنا حمَّاد، عن سِمَاك، عن النُّعمان بن بَشِير، أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ قال: "مَثَلُ المؤمنِ ومَثَلُ الأجَلِ مَثَلُ رجلٍ له ثلاثةُ أخلَّاءَ، قال له مالُه: أنا مالُك، خُذْ مني ما شئتَ ودَعْ ما شئت، وقال الآخر: أنا معك أحمِلُك وأضَعُك، فإذا متَّ تركتُك؛ قال: هذا عَشِيرَتُه، وقال الثالث: أنا معك أدخُلُ معك وأخرجُ معك، متَّ أو حَيِيتَ؛ قال: هذا عَمَلُه" (2).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Nu'man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The example of the believer and his death is like a man who has three close friends. His wealth says to him: 'I am your wealth; take from me what you wish and leave what you wish.' The second (friend) says: 'I am with you; I will carry you (on a mount) and set you down (at the destination), but when you die I will leave you.' (He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:) 'This is his tribe and family.' And the third friend says: 'I am with you; I will enter (the grave) with you and come out with you, whether you die or live.' (He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:) 'This is a person's deeds.'"

(2) صحيح لغيره، وهذا إسناد حسن من أجل سماك بن حرب. حماد: هو ابن سلمة.
Grading: This narration is "sahih li-ghayrihi" (sahih through supporting reports), and this chain is hasan on account of Simak bin Harb.
Identification of names: Hammad is Hammad bin Salamah.
وأخرجه البزار (3272)، والطبراني في "الأوسط" (7396) من طريق النضر بن شُميل، عن حماد بن سلمة، بهذا الإسناد. وحسَّن إسناده الحافظ ابن حجر في "مختصر زوائد البزار" (2202).
Reference / Source: Al-Bazzar (3272) and al-Tabarani in "al-Awsat" (7396) narrated it via al-Nadr bin Shumayl, from Hammad bin Salamah, with this chain.
Grading: Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar graded its chain hasan in "Mukhtasar Zawa'id al-Bazzar" (2202).
وسيأتي برقم (1392) من طريق أبي سلمة التبوذكي عن حماد بن سلمة.
Note / Clarification: This narration will come later at no. (1392) via Abu Salamah al-Tabudhaki from Hammad bin Salamah.
