Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 2529

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) that on the day of Khaybar the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the meat of domestic donkeys, and the jallalah (an animal that feeds on filth): riding it and eating its meat.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: This hadith is sahih li-ghayrihi, and its chain is hasan.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): By Wuhayb is meant Wuhayb bin Khalid.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (11/7039), Abu Dawud (3811) and al-Nasa'i (4521) narrated it through Wuhayb bin Khalid.
Reference / Source: At number (2300), through Abdullah bin Babah, the prohibition of eating the meat of the "jallalah" (an animal that eats filth), drinking its milk and riding it has already passed, although there is a weak narrator in its chain.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: All these prohibitions (concerning the meat, milk, etc. of the jallalah) are established by other sahih hadiths, as was explained under the narration of Ibn Abbas (2278).
