Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 2512

أخبرنا أبو العبَّاس محمد بن أحمد المحبُوبي بمَرْو، حدثنا سعيد بن مسعود، حدثنا عبيد الله بن موسى، أخبرنا أسامة بن زيد، عن سعيد المقبُري، عن أبي هريرة، قال: جاء رجلٌ إلى النبي ﷺ يريد سفرًا، فقال: يا رسول الله، أوصِني، قال: "أُوصيكَ بتقْوى الله، والتكبيرِ على كل شَرَفٍ" فلما مضى قال: "اللهم ازْوِ له الأرضَ، وهَوّن عليه السفَرَ" (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط مسلم ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man who intended to travel came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! Give me advice." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I advise you to have taqwa (fear) of Allah and to say Allahu Akbar on every high place." Then, when the man had gone, he (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated: 'Allahumma azwi lahu al-arda, wa hawwin 'alayhi al-safar' (O Allah, fold up the earth for him and make the journey easy for him).
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(1) إسناده حسن من أجل أسامة بن زيد: وهو الليثي.
Grading: The chain is hasan because of Usamah bin Zayd, and this Usamah bin Zayd is al-Laythi.
وقد تقدَّم عند المصنف برقم (1650) من طريق وكيع بن الجرّاح عن أسامة.
Reference / Source: This narration has already passed with the author (al-Hakim) at number (1650) through Waki' bin al-Jarrah from Usamah.
