أخبرَناه أحمد بن سلمان الفقيه ببغداد، حدثنا الحسن بن مُكْرَم، حدثنا يزيد بن هارون، أخبرنا محمد بن عمرو بن علقمة. وأخبرني الحسن بن حَليم المَروَزي - واللفظ له - حدثنا أبو المُوجِّه، حدثنا الحُسين بن حُرَيث، حدثنا الفضل بن موسى، عن محمد بن عمرو، عن أبي سلمة، عن أبي هريرة قال: خرج النبيُّ ﷺ وقومٌ من أسلمَ يَرمُون، فقال: "ارمُوا بني إسماعيلَ، فإنَّ أباكُم كان راميًا، ارمُوا وأنا مع ابن الأدْرَع"، فأمسك القومُ قِسِيَّهم، فقالوا: يا رسولَ الله، مَن كنتَ معه غَلَبَ! قال: "ارمُوا وأنا معكم (2) كُلِّكم" (3).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out while some people of the tribe of Aslam were competing in archery. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O children of Isma'il, shoot well, for your father was also a skilled archer. Shoot, and I am with the group of Ibn al-Adra'." Hearing this, the other group held back their hands and said: O Messenger of Allah, how can we compete when whoever you are with will prevail! Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Shoot, I am with all of you."

Manuscript variant: Some manuscripts have the word "مع" (with) here.
(3) إسناده حسن من أجل محمد بن عمرو بن علقمة. أبو الموجِّه: هو محمد بن عمرو الفَزَاري.
Grading: The chain is "hasan" because of Muhammad bin Amr. Abu al-Muwajjih is Muhammad bin Amr al-Fazari.
وأخرجه ابن حبان في "صحيحه" (4695) من طريق محمد بن إبراهيم بن أبي عدي، عن محمد بن عمرو، به.

وانظر ما بعده. ¤ ¤ وابن الأدْرَع المذكور قيل: اسمه مِحْجَن، وقيل: سلمة.
Technical note: There is disagreement over the name of Ibn al-Adra': some said "Mihjan" and some said "Salamah".
والقِسِيّ: جمعٌ للقَوس.
Linguistic explanation: "Al-Qisiyy" is the plural of qaws (bow).
