حدثنا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، أخبرنا محمد بن عبد الله بن عبد الحَكَم، أخبرنا ابن وهب، أخبرني يحيى بن أيوب، عن زَبَّان بن فائدٍ، عن سَهْل بن مُعاذ الجُهَني، عن أبيه، أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ قال: "مَن قرأ ألفَ آيةٍ في سبيلِ الله، كَتَبَه اللهُ مع النبيِّين والصِّدِّيقين والشُّهداءِ والصالحين" (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Anas al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever recites one thousand verses in the way of Allah, Allah Almighty will record him with the prophets, the truthful, the martyrs and the righteous."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(1) إسناده ضعيف لضعف زبَّان بن فائد، وقد توبع بمتابعة لا يُعتدُّ بها كما سيأتي.
Grading: The chain is weak because of the weakness of Zabban bin Fa'id, and its corroboration is not reliable either.
وأخرجه أحمد 24/ (15611) من طريق عبد الله بن لهيعة، ومن طريق رشدين بن سعد، كلاهما عن زبَّان بن فائد، به.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad narrated it via Ibn Lahi'ah and Rishdin bin Sa'd (both transmitting from Zabban bin Fa'id).
وتابع زبَّانَ يحيى بنُ أبي أسيد المصري عند الطبراني في "الكبير" 20/ (401) لكن في الإسناد إليه شيخ الطبراني يحيى بن عثمان بن صالح السهمي، وهو مُتكلَّم فيه، ويُحدِّث من غير كتبه، فطُعِنَ فيه لأجل ذلك.
Technical note: Yahya bin Abi Usayd corroborated Zabban, but the chain contains Yahya bin Uthman al-Sahmi, who is a criticised narrator; he was criticised for narrating without his books.
