حدثنا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، أخبرنا محمد بن عبد الله بن عبد الحَكَم، أخبرنا ابن وهب، أخبرني سعيد بن أبي أيوب، عن خَير بن نُعَيم، عن سهل بن مُعاذ، عن أبيه: أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ بَعثَ سَريّةً، فأتته امرأةٌ، فقالت: يا رسول الله، إنك بعثتَ هذه السريةَ، وإنَّ زوجي خَرَجَ فيها، وقد كنتُ أصومُ بصِيامِه، وأُصلي بصلاتِه، وأتعبَّدُ بعِبادتِه، فدُلَّني على عمل أبلُغُ به عملَه، قال: "تُصلِّين فلا تَقعُدِين، وتَصومِينَ فلا تُفطِرين، وتَذْكُرينَ فلا تَفْتُرِينَ"، قالت: وأُطيقُ ذلك يا رسول الله؟ قال: "ولو طُوِّقْتِ ذلك، والذي نفسي بيَدِه ما بلغْتِ العُشَيرَ من عَمَلِهِ" (1)

Sayyiduna Sahl bin Mu'adh narrates from his father that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent out an expedition, and a woman came to him (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! You have sent out this expedition and my husband is also in it. I used to fast when he fasted, pray when he prayed and worship as he worshipped. So tell me of a deed by which I may reach (the reward of) his deed. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Keep praying (continuously) and never sit down, keep fasting (continuously) and never break your fast, and keep remembering (Allah continuously) and never slacken." She said: O Messenger of Allah! Will I be able to do that? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Even if you were given the strength for it, by the One in whose hand is my soul, you would not reach even a tenth of his deed."

(1) إسناده حسن. وقد صححه ابن خزيمة كما في "إتحاف المهرة" (16615).
Grading: Its chain is hasan. Imam Ibn Khuzaymah graded it sahih, as mentioned in "Ithaf al-Maharah" (16615).
وأخرجه أحمد 24/ (15633) من طريق زبّان بن فائد، عن سهل بن معاذ، به.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (15633) narrated it via Zabban bin Fa'id from Sahl bin Mu'adh.
